Senator Chuck Schumer:
“The current VA system is outdated and ineffective. The men and women who dedicate their lives to taking care of our country deserve better than this and must be given the same level of committed care now and in the future. This legislation will modernize the process and guarantee that our servicemen and women receive the benefits they deserve quickly and efficiently. I am glad that the House passed this critical legislation and I will fight tooth and nail to make sure that it passes in the Senate.”
- Hudson Valley Press Online, 8/3/08

Senator Hillary Clinton:
“As more and more service members return from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the VA will face increased pressure to fairly and efficiently provide the benefits these men and women have earned. We owe our veterans a tremendous debt for their service to our country, but the current VA claims process burdens our veterans with bureaucratic obstacles and outdated rules. We must take steps to improve VA procedures so that claims can be processed and benefits delivered quickly, fairly and accurately for our veterans, their families and their survivors ”

U.S. Representative and Command Sergeant Major, Retired Tim Walz (D-Mankato):

"This bill represents the most sweeping and important overhaul of our national Veterans' Affairs system in decades, and it would not have happened without John Hall's unyielding commitment to ensuring that our nation's veterans receive care that is truly worthy of their sacrifice."

The Poughkeepsie Journal Letter to the Editor (August 20, 2008):
"I have attended Hall's meetings along with other vets, many older than I, and we have seen in him someone who really cares, not a macho grandstander who talks only about "winning."

The Times Herald Record Editorial (August 5, 2008):
"A bill authored by Rep. John Hall, the 19th District representative from Dover Plains, would authorize the most sweeping reform of the VA disability benefits system in a generation. It passed the House last week by a vote of 439-0. By the end of the week, a companion bill sponsored by New York's two senators, Chuck Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton, was introduced in the Senate, where it should also receive unanimous support. Indeed, any senator who rejects the bill should be hoisted by his flag lapel pin."

The Times Herald Record (October 23, 2008)
