Mid-Hudson News: Hall pushes cash for appliances rebates

SOMERS – The federal Cash for Appliances rebates program has been extended and on Monday, Congressman John Hall (D-Dover) was at a Westchester County store to promote the program.
Funded by the federal stimulus package, the program offers cash rebates, noted Hall while at Appliance Sales Plus in Somers.
“In New York, I think the awareness of the program has not been as high as it could be, certainly not as high as Cash for Clunkers,” he said. “This is a case where every homeowner ought to know that they stand to reap not a tax deduction, but an actual voucher, a rebate of $555 from the federal program.”
That’s on top of a state incentive and a manufacturer’s rebate.
The program was set to expire on February 21, but has been extended until the money runs out.
